Terms and Conditions

Last updated

These terms apply when you book a service from Al Taawun Battery by phone, by WhatsApp or through this website. They set out what we do, what we need from you and what happens if something goes wrong. Booking a job means you accept them, so please read them once.

Who we are and what we do

Al Taawun Battery is a mobile car battery service based in Al Taawun, Sharjah, working 24 hours a day. Our own technicians come to the car to test the battery and the charging system, jump start the engine, and supply and fit a replacement battery.

Other car services listed on this website, such as mechanical repairs, air conditioning, tyres, body work and towing, are arranged by us and carried out by independent partner workshops and recovery operators. We do not own a workshop.

Quotes and pricing

There is no price list in these terms, because the cost depends on the car, the battery technology it needs (flooded, EFB or AGM), the size and brand you choose and where the car is. You receive a quote by phone or WhatsApp before the technician sets off.

The quote is based on what you tell us. If the car turns out to need something different, for example another battery size or type than the one described, the technician tells you the revised amount first. No work starts until you have agreed the final amount.

Delivery to the car, fitting, and the battery and charging-system test that comes before any replacement are free.

Arrival times

Arrival times are estimates, not guarantees. Inside Al Taawun a technician typically arrives in 20 to 35 minutes. Other areas take longer, and you are told the expected time when you book.

Rush-hour traffic on Al Ittihad Road and around Al Taawun roundabout, events at Expo Centre Sharjah, road works, weather and access to a building or basement can all add time. If we are running late we tell you, so you can decide whether to wait.

What we need from you

A mobile job depends on good information and on access to the car. If wrong details mean the technician brings the wrong battery or cannot reach the vehicle, the job may be delayed and a call-out charge may apply; you are told before any charge is made. Please make sure of the following:

  • An accurate location: the building or tower name, the parking level and bay if you know them, or a map pin.
  • Correct vehicle details: make, model, year and engine, and whether the car has start-stop. A photo of the old battery label helps.
  • The legal right to have the car worked on. You must be the owner or have the owner's permission.
  • Lawful access to the car and the parking. If the building needs a gate card, a call to security or a visitor pass, please arrange it before we arrive.
  • Someone at the car: you, or an adult you have authorised to approve the work and pay for it.
  • A safe place to work. On a live road or a hard shoulder the technician may ask for the car to be moved or recovered first.

Battery replacement

Before a battery is sold, the technician tests the existing battery and the charging system. If the battery is healthy, we say so.

The replacement matches the technology the car was built with. A car made with an AGM battery gets AGM. A car made with EFB gets EFB or, if you choose, AGM. The technician confirms the exact size from the battery already in the car or from the chassis number.

Cars with a battery sensor or battery management system, including many BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Volvo and Ford models, have the new battery registered on site with a scan tool where the car requires it. The old battery is taken away for recycling.

If you insist on a battery type the car was not built for, we may decline the job, and the warranty does not cover that fitment.

Battery warranty

New batteries fitted by us carry a warranty of up to 24 months. The exact period depends on the battery and is written on your invoice. Keep the invoice, because it is your proof of warranty.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects confirmed by a test.

To make a claim, contact us on the phone number or WhatsApp shown on this website and have your invoice ready. A technician tests the battery and the car's charging system at your location. If the test confirms a manufacturing defect inside the warranty period, the battery is replaced or repaired as appropriate.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Physical damage to the case, the terminals or the vents.
  • Deep discharge caused by lights or accessories left on, or by the car standing unused for a long time.
  • Failure caused by a faulty charging system, such as an alternator that overcharges or undercharges.
  • Wrong application: a battery moved to a different vehicle or used for something it was not sold for.
  • Tampering, opening the battery or adding anything to it.
  • Damage from an accident or a flood.

Jump starts

A jump start gets an engine turning again when the battery is flat. It does not repair a battery that has failed or an alternator that is not charging, so we cannot guarantee that the car will keep running or start again later.

After the jump start the technician tests the battery and the charging system and tells you what the readings show. If the battery needs replacing, that is a separate job which you are free to accept or decline.

Services arranged through partners

Mechanical, air-conditioning, tyre, body, towing and similar services are carried out by independent partner workshops and recovery operators. Our part is to take your request, pass on the details and coordinate the timing and collection.

The partner is responsible for its own work and parts and gives its own warranty, and its terms apply to that job. The amount is agreed with you before the work goes ahead. If you have a problem with a partner job, tell us and we will help you take it up with the partner.

Payment

Payment is due when the job is finished, before the technician leaves. We accept cash, credit and debit cards, Tabby and Tamara. You receive an invoice showing the battery, the date and the warranty period.

Split payments through Tabby or Tamara depend on that provider approving the transaction. The provider's own terms govern the instalments, including what happens if one is missed. If the provider declines, another payment method is needed.

Cancellations

You can cancel free of charge at any time before the technician sets off. Tell us by phone or WhatsApp as soon as you know.

If you cancel after the technician has arrived, or the job cannot go ahead because the car cannot be reached or nobody is there to approve the work, a call-out charge may apply. That charge is confirmed to you in advance, when you book.

We may decline or cancel a job that cannot be done safely or lawfully, or when the right battery is not available.

Liability

We carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for faults the car already had before we arrived, including a failing alternator, starter motor, wiring fault or control module, even if the fault only shows itself after the battery is changed.

Disconnecting a battery can reset the clock, radio presets, window and sunroof settings and some stored values. The technician uses a memory saver where the car allows it to keep this to a minimum, but keeping settings and data cannot be guaranteed.

As far as UAE law allows, our total liability for any job is limited to the value of the service you paid for, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as a missed flight, lost earnings or alternative transport. Nothing in these terms removes rights that UAE consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be excluded.

Accuracy of our advertising

We describe our services truthfully on this website and in our adverts. Arrival times are given as typical ranges, the warranty is stated as up to 24 months because it varies by battery, and quotes are given individually.

Availability can vary. A particular brand, size or technician may not be available at a given hour, and partner services depend on the partner's working hours. If we cannot do what you asked for, we say so before you commit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Sharjah. Any dispute that cannot be settled directly between us falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Sharjah.

Please contact us first. Most problems are sorted out with a call and a visit.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version on this page on the day you book is the one that applies to your job.

For questions about these terms, a job or a warranty claim, use the phone number and WhatsApp shown on this website, which are answered 24 hours a day, or the email address shown on this website.
