Genesis battery replacement in Al Taawun
A Genesis takes an AGM battery, usually 70 to 95 Ah in a DIN case, and on most models it sits in the boot or under the luggage floor. It can be replaced where the car is parked in Al Taawun, basement included, with the same AGM technology and no dealer coding. Testing, delivery and fitting are free, and technicians work 24/7.

Genesis battery help around Al Taawun
Genesis saloons turn up in Al Taawun mostly on business: outside the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Corniche Road, in the hotel car parks beside Expo Centre Sharjah, or in the basement of a lagoon-side tower. On exhibition days the roads around Al Taawun Street clog, cars creep with the AC working hard and then sit for hours. A car that will not wake up after a meeting is boosted first so it can be moved, then tested, and the battery is changed there in the car park if it has failed.
Genesis models we replace batteries for
Tap a model for its battery type, where it sits and what the swap involves.
Genesis G80The G80 usually carries an AGM battery of about 80 Ah in the boot. Clear the luggage area before the technician arrives, and mention if the boot will not open so the car is powered from the front first.
Genesis G70The G70's battery is in the boot, usually an AGM of 70 to 80 Ah depending on engine. It is a compact boot, so the floor panel and tool tray come out for access, and the swap is still done on site.
Genesis GV80The GV80 usually takes a 90 to 95 Ah AGM under the luggage floor. Diesel and six-cylinder versions pull hard on the battery at each restart, and a failing one shows first as idle stop refusing to work.
Genesis GV70The GV70 usually carries an AGM battery of around 80 Ah at the rear. The electrified GV70 is a different case: its 12V battery is tested on site, and anything on the high-voltage side goes to the dealer.
Genesis G90The G90 has the highest electrical load in the range and usually takes a 90 to 95 Ah AGM in the boot. Power doors, rear seat motors and air suspension draw while parked, so long idle spells shorten battery life.
How the battery and charging system work on a Genesis
Genesis is Hyundai's luxury arm, and its 12V system is built around an AGM battery, a battery sensor on the negative terminal and an alternator that works hardest while the car is slowing down. The sensor works out state of charge by itself. Nothing has to be coded after a change, but the sensor needs the car left locked and asleep for about four hours to recalibrate, and idle stop-and-go can stay off until then. Electronic shifter, electric parking brake and powered boot all depend on the 12V battery being alive.
Signs a Genesis battery is on its way out
- The smart key is recognised but a low battery or battery discharge warning appears as soon as the door opens.
- The idle stop indicator stays amber and the engine no longer cuts out at traffic lights.
- The powered boot lid opens halfway, or the welcome lights and mirror unfolding skip their routine when the car is unlocked.
Genesis battery sizes and types
Genesis uses DIN cases in AGM, the same family as European cars. As a guide, the G70 usually takes an AGM of 70 to 80 Ah, the G80 and GV70 about 80 Ah, and the GV80 and G90 about 90 to 95 Ah. Hyundai Mobis is the factory label, and the sticker normally reads something like AGM80L-DIN, where the number is the capacity. Capacity should not be reduced to save money, and should not be raised beyond what the tray and clamp accept. The technician matches the battery already fitted.

What we watch for when fitting a Genesis battery
- The car is powered through the under-bonnet jump terminal before the swap, so the boot opens and the electronic shifter and parking brake can be released if it must be moved.
- The boot-mounted AGM battery has a vent hose that is pushed onto the new unit before the trim goes back.
- After fitting, the owner is asked to leave the car locked for about four hours so the battery sensor recalibrates; stop-and-go usually returns after that.
- A memory keeper preserves the driver profiles, seat positions and head-up display height, which are linked to each key.
Where the battery sits in a Genesis
Most Genesis saloons carry the battery in the boot, on one side behind the trim or under the floor panel, and the SUVs usually keep it under the luggage floor. So the technician works at the back of the car. Two things follow in a tower basement. The boot or tailgate needs room to open, which is easier when the car is parked nose-in. And if the battery is flat, the boot will not open on its button, so the car is first fed through the jump terminal in the engine bay fuse box.
Genesis battery replacement: FAQs
Does a Genesis need battery registration like a BMW?
No. Genesis uses a self-learning battery sensor, so there is no registration or coding step. The sensor recalibrates after the car has been left locked for about four hours, and stop-start features normally come back after that.
My Genesis is completely dead and the boot will not open. How do you reach the battery?
Through the front first. There is a positive jump terminal in the engine bay fuse box, and powering that wakes the car enough to open the boot. Then the battery is changed in the normal way.
Is Hyundai Mobis the only battery I can fit to a Genesis?
Mobis is the factory brand and an easy match, but it is not the only one. Varta, Bosch and Sebang make AGM batteries in the same DIN sizes. The size, AGM technology and terminal layout have to match; the logo does not.
Why does my G70 show a battery warning after only short drives?
Short drives take more out of the battery than the alternator puts back, and the Genesis charging strategy does most of its work while the car is slowing down. The sensor sees the charge falling and warns you. A test tells you whether a long drive will fix it or the battery has aged.
